PROJECT
In nature, in each of us, exists a place where you can get lost,
and that does not necessarily have a negative connotation.
You get lost in an empty space, in a full space, in a thin crack, in a personal "where"
imagined and defined, always and no matter what, exclusively by senses and desires.
Man lost in space is an original performance project, oriented to experimental research of an ideal
"synesthetic recipe" capable of inducing (and not lead) the viewer to an open and personal "spatial" journey
in a broad sense, extended beyond the purely geo-astronomical imaginary.
Ultimately Man lost in space is a musical, visual and sensory performance;
its articulated versatility allows it to easily fit different locations:
performance spaces, theaters, private rooms and in particular way in planetary;
places of observation and contemplation, mutated for the occasion in ideal medium
who initiate the viewer to this sensory movement, drifting gently
that stimulates sensorial listening in an almost meditative experience.
A demonstrative video extract (10') from the whole live performance (50'),
fully live performed and recorded on March 2014 @ Deposito Zero Studios (FC) - Italy
CAST
Matteo Scaioli, music and sound core of this experience is a multi-talented musician and percussionist
claimed for his unusual career path and training, voted for years to its personal ensemble made of
multi-ethnic percussions and analog synthesizers, whose names evoke a "space" imaginary,
Prophet 5, Moog Voyager, Korg MS20, MS10, QS10, Roland SH101.
His modus operandi is characterized by an instinctive harmonic approach to musical composition
and by the original system he devised, used to interconnect its delicate analog machines (Suna-Trig).
David Loom interprets the visual component representing the "get lost" in this idealized space
through a dense lilliputian graph imagery, handmade illustrated by using a personal technique
which consists in drawing with black ink pens (0.25 mm) exclusively blanks, null spaces;
he doesn't draw the imagined shapes but he devotes solely to define the gaps between them,
in a sort of obsessive mantra, repetitive and binder, seamlessly.
Emerging from wraparound null, the preserved white on paper becomes resultant matter:
compact, multiform and polyhedral.
